DT post for Crafty Calendar

Hi everyone - me again with another challenge this time for Crafty Calendar.

The sponsors this month are Di's Digi Stamps and

We are a small creative team writing and illustrating fantasy adventure and children's books. We love to draw fun and amusing characters, and are happy to offer them to you as digital stamps. We hope you like these digital images and they help make your creations bright, interesting and memorable!

I decided to use the Dancing Squirrel image from Fabrika Fantasy. I know it looks a bit 'summery' but thought I would be able to make it look a litte more 'wintry'
I took the image into my photo editing suite to make it the size I needed & also add some holly around the head instead of the summer flowers and added a candy cane. I used the coloured image.
I cut out the box card using my cutting machine.
Found some 'snowy' background paper. Put the box card together, applied some Stickles to the trees for a frosty look. While this was drying I die cut some snowflakes from white & blue card, embossed the let it snow sentiment onto white card & went over it with some Steel Blue InkaGold.
Cut out the image and candy cane, fixed the candy cane into the 'hands'. Placed the image into the box card using foam pads. Added the sentiment along the top & arranged the snowflakes onto that. Hope you like this month's make.
Pop over to the Crafty Calendar blog and have a look at all the other DT's makes. Hope to see you  entry on there!
Merry Christmas!
Thanks for stopping by,
Hugs,
Bev xx

DT post for Creative Artiste

Hi everyone! Well it's December - I can't believe it - where did the year go??? Hope you are all ok & all your preparations for the festive season are going along nicely.
It's the first Friday of the month so that means a new challenge over at Creative Artiste Challenge Blog  - YAY!!
The theme this month is Anything Goes.
The sponsor is Foil Play .
I decided to make an Advent calendar.
I used a die to cut out my matchboxes from card, but you could buy matchboxes to do this.Once I had made the matchboxes I covered the front of each box with some freebie Christmas paper.
Once this was done I arranged the boxes as you can see in the photo's. I ended up with 2 parts, each with 12 boxes. I stuck each part of 12 boxes onto a piece of  card, this holds them together.
I adhered pieces of the freebie paper onto the sides of the matchboxes. I went around the edges using gold Rub 'n' Buff.
I placed brads on each 'drawer' to use as handles.
I stamped a number onto the each 'drawer' using Versa Mark ink pad, then used gold embossing powder.
To make the base & top I cut out pieces of thicker card, a little larger than the boxes. I covered these with some of the papers & edged with the gold Rub 'n' Buff.
Adhered the top section to the bottom section, added the base & top, making sure they were central.
Made a box for the top, covered with the papers. Edged with gold Rub 'n' Buff. Adhered this to the top of my Advent calendar - all that is needed now is to fill each drawer and the top box with some treats!
I enjoyed making this project & hope it inspires you to have a go.
Don't forget to pop over to Creative Artiste Blog to see the other DT members projects and have a go at the challenge - you never know you may win some lovely crafty stuff from Foil Play.
I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. I hope the season is good to you.

Snowflake

I seem to be into snowflakes at the moment - card & paper kind not the real ones!
I made this card using my Sillhouette Portrait, some white & blue glitter card & a spotty embossing folder.
Just thought I would share it with you.
I know it's only just December but I have my trees & decorations up! I find lately that I have to get them up early as my Mum died mid December & if I don't get them up early I find it all comes a bit much - so up they go early!
Thanks for stopping by.

DT post for Crafty Calendar

Hi everyone -hope you all had a good Hallowe'en & bonfire night if you celebrate either of these.
Time for another challenge over on Crafty Calendar challenge blog. The theme this month is sparkle, bling and embellish.
The sponsor this month is Brenda's Lace and Ribbon Specials. Here's a pic of the prize:

I have a friend's birthday in January and thought this would be a good theme for her card.
As it is a winter birthday I decided to use snowflakes as a bunch of flowers.
I die cut the snowflakes in various sizes from white card, blue card & blue glitter card'
I'm really into Kraft card at the moment so used this as my base card.
Picked various papers with a wintry theme to use as backing papers & the paper ribbon down the side. Also used these for the 'stems' & 'leaves'.
I stamped some snowflakes onto the Kraft card using Versamark then sprinkled with some embossing powder.
Stamped the sentiment onto some of the backing paper & made a tab.
Placed all the elements onto the card, finished with a silver bow & some blue stickles on the white snowflakes.
Hope you can pop over to the Crafty Calendar blog and have a look at all the other DT members lovely makes, hopefully enter the challenge as well!

DT post for Creative Artiste

Hi everyone - already into the second week of November !
I can't believe it - but it does mean it's time for challenge 8 over on Creative Artiste blog. The theme this month is Anything Goes/Traditional Christmas(i.e. Red, Green & Gold).
I decided to go with the Traditional Colours theme.
To see the winner of challenge 7 & the top 3 click HERE
I used an empty jar, the backing from some paper napkins, gilding flakes, stamps & ribbon.
The image is is the lovely Victorian Winter Emily digi stamp from Lacy Sunshine Stamps.
It is such a beautiful image - I took the image into Craft Artist & resized it to fit the side of my jar. I thought printing onto the single ply of the napkin might be difficult so I taped a piece to some card then printed onto it - hey presto! it worked!
I took some more of the single ply napkin, enough to cover my jar & carefully adhered it to the jar using Americana DecouPage. I like how it gives a frost feel to the jar.
I then carefully tore around my image & adhered this to the jar.
I stamped some leaves around the image then applied some gilding flakes around the top of the jar & around the sides of the image. Tied some ribbon around the top & placed a tealight inside.
Hope you like it. Pop over to Creative Artiste and check out the other DT members lovely makes. Enter the challenge - you never know you might win some lovely digi's from Lacy Sunshine!

Spooky DT post for Crafty Calendar....

Hi bloggers! Well the beginning of another month (where has this year gone??) but that does mean a new challenge over on the Crafty Calendar blog! The theme this month is.... Hallowe'en - did you guess?

Our sponsors this month are:

I made a few box type cards last year and decided to make another one.
You can find the measurements for this card on my templates tab.
I used a Stampendous stamp I've had for a while - Hallowe'en Sprite & stamped with black Archival ink onto white card. I coloured her using Distress Inks  - using them as paints. I decided to use my foils to add some shine, so I went around the flourish with a quickie glue pen. When the glue had gone 'tacky' I applied some copper metallic rub on foil. Then I went around her wings & the Hallowe'en letters with the glue pen & applied some blue metallic foil to the wings & gold foil to the letters. Applied some copper foil to the feather on her hat & added a few spots onto her wings. Inked around the edges using spiced marmalade DI.
I made the box type card from some white card, applied some orange mirri board to the top part, & some brown leather look card to the rest of the card. I matted the sprite image onto some of the leather look card & adhered this to the orange foil.
I stamped the pumpkins onto white card using spiced marmalade DI & some chocolate ink. The face was stamped in black Archival ink. I cut these out, applied some stickles to the face parts.
I stamped the 'boo' (from the same stamp set as the pumpkins) onto white card using black Archival, cut around them. Inked around the edges using crushed olive DI.
I had some Hallowe'en rub ons, placed one of the images onto white card, rubbed it on & cut out.
I adhered 2 of the pumpkins & the rub on to the front of the box part of the card, 2 of the 'boo's' on top of the box part. I made a couple of card 'danglers & hung the rest of the pumpkins & a 'boo' onto these & hung them off the top of the card.
Hope you like it.
Head on over to the Crafty Calendar blog and see the other DT members lovely makes, enter the challenge - you never know - it could be you!

Thanks for stopping by.

DT post for Creative Artiste.

Hi everyone! Time for challenge number 7 over on Creative Artiste - the sponsor this month is:

The theme this month is LACE & PEARLS.
The images I have used for my project have come from the digis called 'Stitchy Fall'.
Once I had downloaded these I found I had backing papers, coloured images & images to colour. These can all be resized.
I printed off some coloured images - printed these quite large, then I printed some smaller images to colour.
I printed off two of the backing papers onto copy paper. I wanted these on a canvas but didn't want to stick them on so I decided to try some Golden Medium. I spread this out onto the top and bottom of the canvas, placed the backing papers, face down, onto the medium. I made sure the paper was well attached to the canvas then left to dry. Once dry I wet the paper then carefully rubbed away the paper with my finger until the pattern appeared.
I painted across the middle of the canvas with orange acrylic paint.
Added some gold Rub'n'Buff around the edges of the canvas and where the backing papers met the acrylic paint.
Once I had cut out the large images I decided to get my melt pot out - melted some thick embossing powder & coated each of the large images to give them a bit of shine.
Printed out one of the sentiments onto white card, edged with distress ink then dipped that into the melt pot as well. Attached this to some burlap.
Added some lovely wine coloured lace around the large pumpkin & sunflower. Added some white pearls on the pumpkin. Also some heart pearls around the canvas.
Arranged all my elements until I liked the arrangement, then stuck everything down.
Added a couple of gold silk flowers.
Hope you like this month's challenge over at Creative Artiste & my project - pop over & see the other DT's makes & enter the challenge.

Another set of ATC's

Hi everyone! Here is another set of ATC's made for a swap over on A Little Piece of Me ATC Swap blog. Fairies is the theme this month.
For the backgrounds I put some inks down onto my glass mat, then spritzed with water, Pressed my card onto this - I did each ATC separately and each one came out different.
I then stamped the leaves, grasses, toadstools and stars using distress inks. Stamped the sentiments.
I stamped the fairies onto white card, coloured in, cut out then adhered to the ATC's.
All fairies need glitter so added some stickles glitter - especially on the wings. Added some Rub'n'Buff around the edges.
Hope you like my fairy ATC's.

DT post for Creative Artiste Challenge

Hi everyone - it's a new month so that means there must be a new challenge over on Creative Artiste Challenge Blog. The theme this month is anything goes.
The sponsor this month is:

The image I used was Fruity Patootie.

I decided to try something different this month. I printed the image onto fabric using Freezer paper - I love this but haven't tried it for anything freezer related!
Once this was done I coloured it using my Inktense pencils. Used some stencils for the background.
To make the image stand out I decided to embroider around the edges - I enjoyed doing this. I was going to try some free motion embroidery on my machine but thought I might spoil the image.
Once the sewing was done decided it needed a bit of bling so added some beads.
I found a notebook that I thought was in need of a bit of a makeover & thought it would make a good recipe book.
Placed some wadding onto the book, covered this with my image. Covered the inside with a piece of card to cover the 'workings'.
Added some more beads & stamped cocktails, summer & recipes onto small strips of cloth & adhered these to the book.
Don't forget to pop over to Creative Artiste & have a look at the other DT members' projects.

UPDATE!

I had printed 2 images out onto the cotton so decided to give the free motion embroidery a go! Here it is - hope you like. I REALLY enjoyed doing this so can imagine I will be having fun with this. The only area not stitched is her face. Hope you can see the stitching in this photo.
Thanks for stopping by.

A little bit of sewing...

Hi everyone - hope you're all having a great weekend. Weather not too bad here today.
I have been experimenting with free motion embroidery on my machine. I have already done one, but it was as part of a DT make - so watch this space next week!
I stamped the poppy image onto some cotton material that I had already backed with some stabilizer, then off I went onto my machine.
I find it very therapeutic doing this.
I cut the heart shape from the white cotton & some red for the backing using my dies & GC. Sewed it all up - remembering to leave a gap to put the wadding in, then finished off with a little hand sewing to close the gap.
I might use it as a pin cushion or I might just have it as a bit of home decor.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by.

DT post for Creative Artiste

Hi everyone - a new month so a new DT project for Creative Artiste. The sponsors this month are Foil Play & Di's Digis.
This colour palette that the DT used for inspiration:-

Butterflies & flowers are the theme this month.

I decided to try some Folk Art painting. I found an empty jar - well nearly empty! I found my acrylics and picked out the ones that matched the colour palette. Painted the background, then painted the little flowers around the jar, adde some leaves & a few hearts dotted around. Talking of dots - placed some around the base of the jar.
Finished off with a coat of decopatch to seal it all, added some butterflies & wound some twine around the top of the jar.

I thought it would be a cool pot to keep my brushes in.

Hop over to the Creative Artiste blog & check out the other DT members lovely makes this month  - enter the challenge you might win! Good luck!

Ripped some strips of newsprint, inked the edges, then matted these onto the ATC's.
Die cut some tags from some Kraft card, inked around the edges with Inka Gold. Threaded some twine through the tags then arranged all the elements onto the ATC's.
Added some butterflies.

Blue Themed Tag

This was a theme over on Oak House Studio Facebook page - to use their products with a blue theme.
I used Clematis Corner & English Garden Words stamps. Stamped the flowers with Yummy Chocolate ink & the script with Slate Grey ink.
Stamped the script onto the tag first. Stamped out the flower onto white card, stamped onto copy paper - cut this out to use as a mask. Covered the one on the card with the copy paper one & stamped the script. Stamped another flower onto white card, coloured & cut out. Decoupaged this onto the first image. Stamped coloured & cut out again.
Placed the script with the flower onto the tag & placed the other flower to match.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tri-fold shutter cards

Hi everyone - well a much better day today weatherwise, the sun has been shining and it was a tad warmer.
There is a challenge over on a Facebook crafty page to make a tri-fold card. I have never made one of these so decided to give it a go!
There is a great tut on YouTube here.
I picked the card for the card base, cut it out as per the instructions. Cut some patterned paper & matted these to the panels.
Picked out some stamps & stamped with black Archival onto the base card. Stamped again so I could decoupage elements of the stamps. Coloured using Inktense pencils.
Matted these onto the centre panels.
I enjoyed making this card & it wasn't as hard to make as I thought it would be.
I also found a tut for a cute mini tri-fold card here.
Here is a pic of the one I made.

It is owl themed as that was the theme for a challenge - an owl themed birthday card.
Here is a pic showing the difference in size between the two.

Hope you like them.

Cold enough for Christmas....

Another post!
Well it has been dull & cold enough to be thinking about Christmas today so thought I would make a start on Christmas cards! Also ther is a challenge on a Facebook page to make a Christmas card but no red or green to be used.

It is another Sillhouette make - found this lovely shaped card. Which I cut out of white card.
The patterned paper was a freebie from a magazine. Cut the words from white card & matted silver mirri. Finished off with a silver ribbon tied into a bow.

Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday card, envelope & purse

Hi everyone! Where has the summer gone - it's like autumn here today.
I can post this now as it has been received.
I made this for James' partner, Charlotte.
I had found the card I wanted to make in my Sillhouette library.
I started out with some Kraft card, ran it through my Sillhouette. Picked out the patterned papers I wanted to use & ran these through as well.
Assembled the card & added a little twine at the top of the card.
I made the envelope using my We R Memory Keepers envelope maker - so easy. I can now make envelopes for any size card.

I also made this little purse/money wallet to put her some money in. Again I found just what I wanted in the Sillhouette store. Used the Kraft card again, some lovely patterned paper, ribbon & finished off with a brad for the fastener.

Hope you like my makes.
Thanks for stopping by.

DT post for Creative Artiste

Hi everyone! It's the first Friday of the month so it must be time for a new challenge over on Creative Artiste Challenge Blog.
This months sponsors are Jiggery Makery & Oddball Art. The image I have chosen to work with this image from Oddball Art - Kawaii Valentine Giraffe.
The theme this month is use texture & spray mists.
Here is the colour theme :

I know the image is called valentine giraffe but I thought it would make a good room sign.
I printed off the image then ran it through my Grand Calibur using an embossing folder to give the giraffe some texture.
I went over the image using distress inks, then coloured the hearts using Inktense pencils.
I Cut out the image.
For the background I sprayed Brusho's over some watercolour paper.
Die cut the letters.
Matted the watercolour background onto some card, adhered the giraffe with foam pads. Added some metal eyelets at the corners. Drew some faux stitching around the edges. Added a metal heart charm & the letters.
Hope you like him!

IndigoBlu post

Hi everyone! Don't know if you saw my post a few weeks ago where I was picked for top 3 over on IndigoBlu's Challenge Blog, well I had to make an inspiration piece to go on their blog!
Today is the day my piece goes live on their blog!
The theme this month is 'a pocket full of posies'.
I had wanted to try making a pocket card & thought this would be a good project for this theme. Also a group I am in on Facebook - Craftylicious Corner - had a challenge to make a double pocket card - two birds with one stone!
I used some double sided patterned paper to make the double pocket. There is a great tut here.
I cut the cards for inside the pockets from white card. Stamped the IndigoBlu Elizabeth Bennet image on one using Flitter Glue, then used gilding flakes to bring out the detail. Went over the whole card with burnt sienna tint Pan Pastel, then painted the flowers using watercolour paints.
For the other card I stamped the sentiment & flower images (which are IndigoBlu stamps which were a freebie from Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine) using black Archival ink, then coloured with the watercolours.
Stamped the IndigoBlu Poppy Heart Dinkie onto white card, coloured with watercolours. Die cut the heart shape. Stamped the image again, cut out the largest poppies & added to the heart with foam pads for a bit of dimension.
I went around all the edges with pink Inka Gold.
Hope you like my double pocket card - pop over to the IndigoBlu Challenge Blog & see it there!
Thanks for stopping by.

Bev xx

DT post for Creative Artiste

Hi everyone! It's the first Friday of the month so it must be time for a new challenge over on Creative Artiste Challenge Blog.
The sponsor this month is:

The design I chose is called Tailfeathers - a cheeky chick!

This month there is a bingo card from which you choose a line to use.

I decided to use the top line - so needed to include ribbon, brads, pearls, blue & lace in my project.
I covered my base with gesso. Painted with a dark acrylic paint, then my weathered wood crackle medium, then white acrylic paint & watched the crackles appear!
I covered the bottom of my canvas with torn book page pieces, which were edged with brown distress ink.
I printed the image - resizing it to the size I needed for my project. I coloured it using my Inktense pencils.
I glittered the flower & the red 'comb' & 'wattle'. Added a pearl to the centre of the flower.
The chick did have some printed tailfeathers but I had found some feathers which I wanted to use - I managed to arrange them so they looked good, added a 'pearl' bow at the base of the feathers.
I wrapped some blue ribbon & some pink lace around the canvas.
Cut out a piece of corrugated cardboard, added some black ink to bring out the edges. Printed off the 'Shake those tail feathers!' - cut this out & stuck to the cardboard.
Arranged the pieces on the canvas, stuck them with some foam pads for a bit of dimension.
Added some more pearls & a few brads.
Pop over to the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog & have a peek at the other DT's makes.
Join in the fun - you might be the lucky winner of a lovely Pickled Potpourri image !
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Bev xx

More Numbers...

Hi everyone - hope you have had a good weekend. The weather is a bit better here today - brighter & warmer.
I decided to make another numbers themed card - basically because of the numbers themed stamps I found yesterday!
The background is made using  Docrafts Papermania 6"x6" Urban Stamp, stamping with black Archival onto white card. Sponged around with PanPastels - burnt sienna tint & burnt sienna. Edged with frayed burlap DI.
The main image is from the Timekeeper stamp set designed by Sam Poole. Stamped with black Archival onto white card, then sprinkled Brusho paints around the image & sprayed with water.
Coloured the frame of the large watch with watercolour paint. Went around the edge with gold Rub'n'Buff.
Stamped the sentiment - also from the Timekeeper stamp set - onto card that already had the Brusho treatment. Edged with the burnt sienna PanPastel.
Adhered the main image to the card, added the sentiment using foam pads.
Hope you like this take on numbers.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Bev xx

Numbers

Hi everyone! Dull cool day here today so time for a bit of crafting - as if I need the excuse!
The theme over on the Facebook group One Word Wonder is numbers.
I had some Tim Holtz stamps - Visual Artistry Collection, Seamless Experience that I wanted to use & there are numbers on the ruler - result!
I cut some white card & stamped the ruler & stitches using black Archival. I then went around the card with Pan Pastel Burnt Sienna Tint, went over the rulers with Pan Pastel Burnt Sienna. Edged the card with pink Inka Gold.
I stamped the dress form onto white card using the black Archival then cut out & edged with Inka Gold & some gold Rub'n'Buff.
I had been experimenting with Brusho paints & had a few backgrounds. I decided which part I wanted to use & stamped the sentiment, cut out & edged with the Inka Gold.
Attached the dress form & sentiment using foam pads for a bit of dimension.
Measured out some pink spotted paper for matting & layerin.
Hope you like my make today.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Bev xx
