Gothic Tag

Hi everyone! Hope you are all well. It has been a bit wet here overnight, but as I type this the sun is managing to shine through - quite a bit cooler though.
I decided to have a go at making something a bit Gothic today.
The image is a Crafty Individuals stamp. I coloured using DI and a bit of Brusho for the wings.
I picked out a tag & inked with DI, then stamped the barbed wire, bird & crackle  with black Archival.
Stamped the saying onto whit card & inked with DI.
Arranged everything onto the tag.
Hope you like it - I think it looks quite spooky!
Thanks for stopping by.

DT post for Crafty Calendar - Back to School

Hi everyone! Here's this month's challenge for Crafty Calendar - Back to School.
Our sponsors this month are

The DT had some lovely images to work with - I chose Bookworm.
I printed the image a couple of times, coloured using watercolour paints, cut ou the whole image of one & the pile of books from the other.
I found the dictionary parts I wanted & edged then with a little DI then placed them onto my backing paper.
The 'blackboard' is made from a blackboard sticker which I stuck onto white card the cut around leaving a small border. I made the easel from some white card & coloured it with DI.
Placed the bookworm onto the card, then placed the blackboard & pile of books using foam tape for a bit of dimension.
Pop over to the Crafty Calendar Blog & take a look at the other makes by the DT. The challenge runs all month so you have plenty of time to get your projects in! Hope to see you there.

DT post for Creative Artiste - challenge #18

Hi everyone! It's September - can you believe it? I just don't know where this year has gone.
It's time for a new challenge over on Creative Artiste.
The sponsor this month is:

The theme is anything mixed media goes.
I had some cardboard packaging that I had been holding onto for ages, so I decided to use it for this project.
There were 2 pieces - a flat piece & a frame shape.
I covered both with white gesso. Once the gesso had dried I taped a stencil onto the flat piece, I went over this with Versa Mark ink, carefully removed the stencil & sprinkled white embossing powder then heated with my heat gun.
I 'painted' over this with water then sprinkled with various colours of Brusho, left for a while for the 'magic' to work then used my brush to move the colour around. I left this to dry.
I wanted the frame to have some texture so I decided to use the tissue & Brusho technique.
I sprinkled Brushos onto the tissue, then spritzed with water. Dabbed various parts with kitchen roll. I had to leave this to fully dry.
I picked out the Scrapmatts board pieces I wanted to use, covered the circle with gold Inka Gold and the words with blue Inka Gold. I placed some pearls on the circle where there were small board circles.
Found a rocket stamp & stamped this onto silver paper with black Stazon & cut out.
My piece with the embossing had now dried. I wiped over the embossing to remove the paint.
Stamped & embossed the sentiment. Stamped & embossed the small stars. Used some gold texture paste through a star stencil. Left this to dry.
Back to the frame. The tissue had dried so I screwed it up to get the texture. Covered the frame with Mod Podge & placed the tissue onto the frame, making more creases as I went along. Covered it all with Mod Podge once it was all covered, then dried with heat gun. Lightly applied gold Inka Gold to highlight the texture.
Placed the frame onto the flat piece & arranged the elements.
Hop over to Creative Artiste & see the other DT projects, join in the challenge, you have a month to enter your projects & we would love to see them.

We are having a DT call this month for crafters who love their mixed media. Details of requirements and how to apply can be found over on the blog.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Canvas with Lights

Hi everyone! Hope you have all had a great Bank Holiday - sun on a Bank Holiday, Who'd have thought it!
I spent my time making this Christmas canvas.
I got the inspiration for the cut out tree from Wendie Rhodes on The Craft Channel so thought I would give it a go!
I drew the tree onto some copy paper ( I didn't feel confident enough to draw straight onto the canvas!) then transferred this to the back of the canvas & carefully cut it out. I covered the whole canvas in sparkle Mod Podge.
Next I took a sheet of white A4 card.
I ran the top half through my Grand Calibur with the spotty embossing folder.
I tore strips of masking tape in half along the length & placed these on the lower half of the card, overlapping slightly. It doesn't stick to itself so you can roll the edges down to give some texture & dimension. It is a bit of a yellow colour so I covered it with white gesso, white acrylic paint then the sparkle Mod Podge.
I put blue Stickles over the embossed dots.
While all that was drying I die cut the deer, the Poinsettias, holly, branches & snowflakes.
The snowflakes I covered with sparkle Mod Podge, the flowers & leaves with glossy Mod Podge.
Once the background was dry I placed where I wanted it & trimmed the excess.
I made a small hole in the bottom corner to thread my lights through, and arranged the lights where I wanted them to sit.
Arranged all my elements around the canvas, added some gems in the centres of the snowflakes & for the holly berries - you can't have enough sparkle at Christmas!
I have put a photo of it without the lights so you can see all the sparlkle from the Mod Podge.
Hope you like it - it looks great in the dark!

Cupcake tag

Hi everyone! Well we have had a bit of all kinds of weather here today. Are you all enjoying the Olympics? Love seeing all the different sports.
Just thought I would share this tag with you that I have made for a challenge.
The 'sprinkles' embossing folder & cupcake dies & stamps were freebies from a magazine! Love a freebie me!
I embossed some white card & gently inked over with DI, covered a tag with this. Die cut the cupcake & assembled. Stamped the cake stand - this is onto silver card but doesn't show up very well on the pic. Stamped the sentiment then die cut & inked.
Placed everything onto the tag. Added some stickles to the cupcake.
Funnily enough I feel a bit peckish now!
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi everyone - Summer's back today!
I've been at it with the Brushos again. I have these great small canvasses - I like them as they are not as daunting to start on as the larger ones.
The first thing I did was cut a piece of white tissue paper large enough to cover the canvas, then I sprinkled various colours of the Brusho Paints & spritzed really well with water. I left this to dry over night.
Once this was dry I crumpled the tissue up & opened up. Applied Mod Podge to the canvas & applied the tissue to the canvas adding a few more creases & crumples as I went. This was left to fully dry.
I went over the canvas with Inka Gold to highlight the creases.
I decided I wanted an image so I stamped the large image onto tissue paper using distress inks, tore carefully around the image, applied Mod Podge to the canvas & carefully applied my tissue image, being careful not to smudge the distress inks.
While this was drying I stamped various images around the rest of the canvas - I used black Archival for this but stamped off the canvas first to give a shadow image. I coloured these images with DI.
Added a bit more of the Inka Gold, some lace to the top & an embellishment with a button.
Hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi everyone another month has gone and here we are in August! Can't believe it! Soon be Christmas - lol!
Time for another challenge over on Crafty Calendar the theme this month is Summer Fun.

The sponsor very kindly sent our DT some digi images to work with - I chose Crab Boat.
I printed the image to the size I wanted, coloured in with watercolour pencils & cut out.
I had some beach themed freebie papers from a magazine & decided they were just what I needed for my little crab friend.
I layered them up to look like a beach scene then added my crab boat image.
Cut out some more elements and added them with foam pads for a bit of dimension.
Added some sparkle to the water with some Stickles and an 'I do like to be beside the seaside' banner.
Matted onto some white then aqua card.
Hope you have time to check out the other DT's makes over at Crafty Calendar & enter our challenge - would be great to see you.

Dt Post for Creative Artiste Blog - Anything Goes.

It's a new month so a new challenge over at Creative Artiste. The theme this month is anything goes.
Our sponsor this month is:

The sponsor kindly sent the DT some stencils to work with. Mine were Build Me A Rose and Art Splatters stencils.
I had a lovely frame from a poundshop, it was ok but plain, so I thought these stencils would make it a little more interesting.
I decided to use my Inka Gold waxes with the stencils, I must admit to being a little obsessed with Inka Gold at the moment, but I just love the effects you can achieve with it.
I placed the stem & leaf first & inked through with green IG, then placed the rose heads onto the stems & inked through again.
I did the same with the Art splatters stencil at the top of the frame.
I was cleaning my stencil with a baby wipe onto some kitchen roll & liked the effect, so decided to try doing the same onto some watercolour paper - it worked! I love the effect, so decided to make a picture to go in the frame.
I think it looks more than a £1 frame now - hope you like it.
Hope you can pop over to the blog & see the other DT's makes & maybe join in the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by.
